Lately...
John got a huge bonus for no particular reason the other day and he handed me $160 and said, "Go shopping". Um, okay, don't have to tell me twice. So off I went to a local thrift store that I had been wanting to check out. It was awesome! It was one of the best thrift stores I've ever been to. I found tons of brand name clothes in good condition, hundreds of books, great old costume jewelry, and beautiful purses and trinkets for cheap. I ended up buying two purses, two pairs of pants (Abercrombie), two bangle bracelets, and a fabulous scarf. And only $40 altogether! Not too shabby, if I say so myself. I'm definitely going there again. I love being a bargain shopper! It's just more fun that way.

- quote of the day -
"The White House isn't backing off its plan to replace real news with faux news. The Bushies created their own reality to convince the country that Iraq was a threat to U.S. security. So even though the war has given birth to some of the very evils it was supposed to fix - like more recruits for Osama, and Saddam's formerly sealed weapons' falling into terrorists' hands - Bushies like the results of their war." "Voila! I've said it before and I'll say it again: the lunatics are running the asylum. What I can't figure out is how lawyers can make arguments like that in public with a straight face." Common Dreams News Center

- quote of the day -
"The legal debate over how gun records are used became particularly contentious months after the Sept. 11 attacks, when it was disclosed that the Justice Department and John Ashcroft, then the attorney general, had blocked the F.B.I. from using the gun-buying records to match against some 1,200 suspects who were detained as part of the Sept. 11 investigation. Mr. Ashcroft maintained that using the records in a criminal investigation would violate the federal law that created the system for instant background gun checks, but Justice Department lawyers who reviewed the issue said they saw no such prohibition."
